What's New

Aug 5th - The crew from the Idaho Division of Veteran Services visited with the VSU crew at ISCC.
Meaningful work with meaningful people.
Today was one of those days that fills your cup. Working alongside my Veterans Outreach & Community Support team and dedicated community volunteers is a reminder that real change happens when people come together with a shared purpose.
Every conversation, every helping hand, and every act of service makes a difference. Grateful to be part of a team—and a community—that shows up for Idaho’s veterans every single day.
Aug 14th: A New Path Board meeting and elections. Welcome Sandra Mitchell as the President, Rich Nota as the Vice President, Julie Gummersall as the Treasurer, Laura Foster as the Secretary, and Mark Person remains the Executive Director. Thanks to Gena Person for her time serving as the Board President.

In July 2026, members of Idaho’s Veterans Service Unit team traveled to Pennsylvania to learn directly from two of the nation’s established correctional veteran programs at SCI Mercer and SCI Houtzdale. The team met with Pennsylvania Department of Corrections staff, social workers and veteran program leaders to study daily operations, military-based culture, peer leadership, programming, staff involvement, community partnerships, data collection and reentry preparation. The lessons and relationships developed during this visit are helping Idaho build a VSU at the Idaho State Correctional Center that reflects proven practices while responding to the unique needs of Veterans Incarcerated in Idaho.
